My first encounter with a hurricane was back in 1989 when Hurricane Hugo hit the coast of South Carolina and blasted through the small town of Goose Creek, where I lived at the time. Huddled in the bathroom with my family while the winds ripped through, I heard tree limbs breaking and what sounded like 100 trains barrelling through my neighborhood. I prayed I would never have to brave another hurricane again.
However, last month, I was surprised to learn that the remanants of Hurricane Ike would be making their way through Indiana on a day when I had photo shoots scheduled. Thankfully, Hurricane Ike was minor compared the last hurricane I experienced, but there was still a lot of huddling involved– this time by Alex’s family, who had made a special trip to Lafayette for this session. Here there are braving the storm underneath an awning (see the rain on Aaron’s shoulders):

Here’s Alex and his Grandpa, checking out the rain:

Once the rain picked up quite a bit, it became apparent that an outdoor shoot was not going to work, so we moved to Plan B:

So you can see, that despite the hurricane, Alex still had a happy day with his grandma and grandpa
