Ok, so, not technically. Not really, at all. But, I did have Meet and Greet passes and that entitled me to one of those fancy laminate necklaces which is bound to make anyone feel just a tad bit important. When my best friend, Andi, told me back in March that we had gotten the passes to Maroon 5, we jumped up and down and giggled like tweens at a Jonas Brothers concert and we began counting down the days.
The show was last night and it was nothing short of amazing. I love going to concerts and as a result I’ve been to a lot over the years, ranging from Elliott Smith to Jimmy Buffett to Wu-Tang Clan. There’s just something incomparable about the feeling of live music blaring through the air. Love it. I always dance like a big dork and sing along, too, like no one is watching, although I’m sure that on more than one occasion I’ve had the people behind me wondering what on Earth is wrong with me.
I usually don’t take my “fancy” cameras to concerts, as it’s typically frowned upon without press credentials, but I read and reread the fine print on the Meet and Greet instructions and no where did it say “No Cameras.” So I took my Canon 5D Mark II and 50mm 1.8 (I wanted to take the 70-200mm 2.8 or my 85mm 1.2, but as Andi kindly pointed out, they were too heavy to carry in a purse and may get us kicked out for being too paparazzi-ish)
Here are some of the shots I got:
VV Brown was the opening act and if y’all haven’t checked her out yet, you really should. Her outfit was pretty fabulous. We got to briefly meet her, too, and she was really friendly and happy to sign autographs for everyone.

Then it was time for Maroon 5 to hit the stage!
Lead singer, Adam Levine:

Incredible musician PJ Morton (on the left) joined up with Maroon 5 for the tour. Drummer Matt Flynn, on the right, beneath the giant disco ball. (Who doesn’t love a disco ball?)

We were sitting directly in front of Adam Levine and guitarist, James Valentine. He’s incredibly nice and even slid a guitar pick across the stage to me when I asked for one! (He signed it after the show, too!!)

Adam Levine introducing keyboardist Jesse Carmichael.

Taking a final bow after the encore: Keyboardist PJ Morton, bassist Mickey Madden, guitarist James Valentine, lead singer Adam Levine, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, and drummer Matt Flynn

Huge thanks to the kind strangers who took the following photos for us. We got to meet the band before the show, but after the show they came back out to sign autographs and chat with the fans. (clockwise from top left: Andi and I with keyboardist PJ Morton, guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, me!, Production Manager Shawn Tellez, and Andi in front of the tour bus)

I’ll be posting more on my Facebook page very soon, too!
